Why All Successful Online Marketing Begins With Keywords
Online Marketing: The process of marketing a product or service on the Internet.
When you think of traditional marketing efforts and some current ones, you see that many times conversion rates suffer due to an underlying theme, that no one ever comes out and says.
That theme is, “I don’t want to be interrupted from what I’m doing right now.”
For example… commercials on TV. Most of the time the commercials are our queue to get up and stretch. We subconsciously admit, “I only want to watch the show, what follows during a commercial break is annoying, because I’m trying to watch my show.”
Or think of pop up windows, or banners on the Internet… they try to interupt us, and lead us astray from what we were trying to actually do.
This is very important to understand. What we’re saying is, “when I want something, I’ll ask or hunt for it, but right now, leave me alone!”
If you take that further, you can now actually see why I believe Keywords themselves are the key to all online success.
When someone goes to Google for example and types in a keyphrase, its because they are saying… “okay, now I’m ready to be shown information about xyz”
That’s why the Yellow pages in my opinion gained so much traction and were common in every household in America. They gave people information about products and services WHEN and only when people were looking for it.
Fast forward today and you have Yellowpage type companies reeling in sales decline and ad revenue declines. Why? The advent of the Internet has gained the traction. Let your fingers do the walking has turned into let your fingers do the typing!
So with that understanding, what we can learn from researching through keyword lists is exactly what people are searching for, by the exact verbiage, and number of searches.
Wow! For the first time in history, we can analyze the phsycology of a keyword list and find out what people want, how they look for it, and most importantly, make sure when they are looking for it, we are there to be found.
I hope you see the power in this concept, because it has completely reengineered the sales process. It used to be the companies would chase down the buyers through catalogs and flyers. Now we have consumers hunting down the companies that carry their interest. Our role as a business is to put ourselves in front of their path.
If you understood exactly what someone was seeking, and you knew the words they used to describe it, it would be an easy sell to emotionally connect with that individual.
So your role in this is to make sure you target the high volume keywords, with lesser competition and design a strategy up on exactly how to intercept them in their search for answers.
We’ll talk more about how to do just that in future posts. For now, I’d love to hear your thoughts and comments on this truly fascinating subject.
